USC Is Selling a Frank Lloyd Wright-Designed Home for $4.25 Million

By Mary Elizabeth Andriotis

A Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Los Angeles is on the market for $4.25 million, and its seller is none other than the University of Southern California, which acquired the property in 1986 after the original homeowners donated it to the School of Architecture at USC.

Located at 1962 Glencoe Way, the Freeman House was built between 1923 and 1925 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It boasts two bedrooms and one bathroom across 2,884 square feet.

Some amenities of the dwelling include 270-degree views of Hollywood, an exterior clad in graphic concrete tiles, and numerous terraces and roof decks, in keeping with Wright’s tendency to bridge indoors and out in his nature-centric designs. The home’s interiors were also designed by Wright, while the furniture is the work of Austrian-American architect Rudolf Schindler. Later minor additions were made by architects Gregory Ain, Robert Clark, and John Lautner. Best of all, many of the home’s original furnishings are still in place.
