Stately English-style home in Pacific Palisades asks $3.89M

By Elijah Chiland

This four-bedroom home brings a bit of English countryside charm to Pacific Palisades. It’s not quite as rustic as the Cotswold homes the listing proclaims it to be based on, but it probably offers better views.

The home last appeared on the market in 1971. According to a representative from Deasy/Penner & Partners, who are representing the sellers, it was the longtime residence of character actor Guy Raymond and Ann Guilbert, who played neighbor Millie Helper on the Dick Van Dyke Show and more recently appeared on the HBO series Getting On.

Guilbert passed away in June, and now her daughters—acting coach Nora Eckstein and actress Hallie Withrow—are selling the home.

Built in 1942, the 2,351-square-foot home features hardwood floors, built-in shelving, diamond-paned windows, and dramatic pitched ceilings. A living area includes an impressive brick fireplace and hexagonal tile floors. A winding stone staircase leads to the upper level.

Perched on a hillside, the home also features an expansive back deck accessible from multiple rooms of the house. Surrounded by overhanging trees, the deck offers some nice views, built-in seating, and even a fire pit. Asking price is $3.89 million.
