If you were thinking of making a bid on Naples Island’s Stoner House, tough luck—the waterfront property reworked by the brilliant Ray Kappe in 1955 is now pending sale. But stepping up to fill the Kappe gap is a sharp midcentury modern in Baldwin Hills known as the Waymire House.
One of the SCI-Arc co-founder’s earliest commissions, the three-bedroom, two-bath home was completed in 1958 and features pitched ceilings, clerestory windows, concrete block walls, and vast expanses of glass that provide cinematic views.
The 1,906-square-foot residence occupies a .42-acre lot studded with mature eucalyptus and oak trees. Last sold in 2005 for $1.05 million, it’s now asking $2.2 million.
