Richard Neutra-designed home in Rancho Palos Verdes offered at $4.1 million

A hillside Rancho Palos Verdes home designed by famed modernist Richard Neutra is for sale at $4.1 million.

The 5,185-square-foot home constructed for shipbuilder John Rados in 1957 is one of the largest Neutra-designed homes in the U.S., the agents say.

Tucked beyond a long, private driveway, the stone and wood-slatted house at 2209 Daladier Drive boasts marine-grade mahogany beams, terrazzo floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. A hanging chimney hovers above a circular fireplace in the living room, and a sunken bathtub is found in the master suite. There are two dining rooms – formal and informal – as well as three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a “television room” and a downstairs family room with a full bar.

The vibe evokes “laissez-faire informalities … the idealized postwar housing experience,” as the listing describes it.
