Real Estate Marketing Efforts in the Time of Social Distancing

Success in real estate has long relied on networking and face-to-face interaction. However, social distancing and COVID-19 are quickly changing the real estate landscape, restricting how we can conduct our daily business. As a result, Realtors® must adapt. Daunting as it may be, this is a call for us to utilize our creativity along with the available technology and social media platforms to continue the work we once conducted in person.

We’ve all seen real estate moving in a more digital direction for some time now. Now more than ever, embracing the technology that’s literally right at your fingertips, and leveraging your social media presence can be the key to protecting your business. Below are a few examples of how we can continue to execute dynamic and effective real estate marketing while limiting our social contact.

Digital Flyers

Traditional flyers and brochures can now easily be presented in a digital flipbook format through sites such as Issuu. These can then be distributed in a number of ways – text, email, AirDrop, and/or through your social media accounts.

Dedicated Property Websites

Likewise property sites remain an excellent, easily sharable tool to digitally present your property alongside your personal branding.

Matterport / Video Property Tours

Matterport technology and video tours offer potential sellers the ability to virtually tour your listing from the comfort of their home.

Social Media

While everyone is sequestered in their homes, social media is going to be the primary platform people use to stay connected. Whether running a targeted ad campaign or simply leveraging your existing network, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn have the ability to connect your listing with a serious buyer — or likewise, allow you to connect a potential buyer-side client with their dream home.  Work on your profile and stay active by posting relevant content and authentically engaging with your network.

Virtual Open Houses

Utilizing live streaming platforms such as Facebook and Instagram Live enables you to show viewers features of your listing and answer questions in real-time, just as you would during a standard open house. Announce the event on your channels ahead of time, to maximize exposure and leave the video up on your page after the fact to allow clients and followers to view the tour on their own time.

Virtual Walk-Throughs

Similar to virtual open houses, walk-throughs can be done on platforms such as Google Hangouts, FaceTime, and Skype.

Be a Good, Participating Member of Your Community

Last, but most certainly not least, practice kindness and empathy with your neighbors, clients and community members — the elderly in particular. Reach out to them individually via phone, text, email or social media to check in and to see how you may be of service. Stay involved with your community and show you care. Once this storm has cleared, we will all be more connected and stronger, together. Stay healthy and safe everyone!
