By Neal J. Leitereg

Screenwriter Derek Connolly, who gained fame for his work on the 2012 dramedy “Safety Not Guaranteed” and the 2015 blockbuster “Jurassic World,” has sold his home in the desirable Los Feliz Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles for $2.2 million

Set up from the street, the modern-style home is distinguished by an clean lines, open space and and a flood of natural light. Main living areas center on a two-story wall of windows framed in steel beams that take in dramatic city and ocean views.

Adding to the loft-style vibe is an office that sits above the great room. Glass doors off the living/dining area open directly to a deck with a spa, and the chef’s kitchen is outfitted with a tiled backsplash and a breakfast bar.

The master suite has a glass-enclosed shower and a soaking tub for a total of three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A second lofted space sits over the master bedroom.

Connolly bought the house two years ago for $2.15 million, records show.

Victoria Massengale and Michael Maguire of Compass were the listing agents. Stephen Parisi of Deasy/Penner & Partners repped the buyer.

Connolly won Independent Spirit, IFJA and Waldo Salt awards for best screenplay for the film “Safety Not Guaranteed,” which starred Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass and Jake Johnson. Among his current projects is adventure film “Kong: Skull Island,” due out in 2017, and “Star Wars: Episode IX,” due out in 2019.
