Jerry Bruckheimer Lowers Ticket Price for His Stylish Mid-Century Modern

Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer is doing everything he can to make the sale of his Mid-Century Modern home a smash hit. He just reduced the price again by more than a million bucks, lowering it from $12,995,000 to $11,900,000. It was originally listed in July 2015 for $14.5 million.

Bruckheimer bought the glass-and-steel compound in the Brentwood Park neighborhood in 1985, for nearly $1.9 million. Built in 1965, it was designed by Case Study architect Thornton Abell and later became known as the Siskin house.

“The compound is a series of glass pavilions arranged across more than three-quarters of an acre of sycamores, oak, and giant bamboo,” says Realtor® Mike Deasy of Deasy/Penner & Partners. The grounds can be viewed from “a Zen interior through transparent, movable walls.”

The property has seven bedrooms and seven baths inside 9,030 square feet of residential space. But the basic specs don’t do justice to the high ceilings, the glass-enclosed living room with the sleek fireplace and built-in shelving, the formal dining room with walls of glass, the imposing library/study, and the modern kitchen that opens to a light-filled breakfast room.

“It’s unique for Brentwood Park,” says Deasy.

There’s also a generous master suite that constitutes its own wing and has a private garden, double baths, multiple closets, a gym, and one of four fireplaces on the property. In addition, there’s a studio/guesthouse with a bath and kitchen, a pool, an atrium, and several ponds and fountains on the grounds.

Although this one-of-a-kind home hasn’t exactly been a blockbuster (yet!) from a sales standpoint, you needn’t worry about Bruckheimer. He’s made boatloads of dough as the producer of movies such as “Top Gun,” “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Armageddon,” “Pearl Harbor,” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. According to Variety, he also owns a townhouse just off Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA; the old Harry Cohn estate in Beverly Hills, CA; a 400-acre ranch in Ojai, CA; and a penthouse in Miami Beach.
