Glamorous Paul Williams-designed time capsule in View Park looks like 1964

By Bianca Barragan

Tucked away in View Park—the newly designated historic district once known as “the black Beverly Hills”—this single-story home designed by acclaimed architect Paul Williams looks like the best piece in a high-end vintage shop.

Commissioned by a local “power couple” Peter and Dr. Verna Dauterive, according to the listing copy, the house was completed in 1964. So many of its features still look fresh and stylish after all these years: the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, terrazzo floors, stone accent walls, and carved wooden room dividers, not to mention some fantastic wallpaper.

The three-bedroom house has a living room bar, a pool, a dining area, and a backyard that accommodates a sizable pool. The long, spacious kitchen shares space with a breakfast nook that overlooks the pool and the city beyond.

As its name might suggest, the hilly View Park neighborhood offers some great vistas, and so to capitalize on this, the “Living room, dining area and breakfast nook were built at an angle in order to maximize the picturesque views of the City and Hollywood sign,” says the listing.

 It’s listed for $1.249 million.
